Exploring Indochina

Without doubt the highlight of our holiday was sailing down the Mekong River through Laos. The scenery was absolutely stunning and apart from the odd boat for most of the journey we sailed alone. The accommodation in Thailand the night before we set sail was great and having breakfast whilst overlooking the Mekong was fabulous.

Laos is an amazing country and without doubt the favourite of our trip. The people are friendly and there is an air of a country emerging into prosperity led by its young, hard working and beautiful people.
Luang Prabang is such a pretty, vibrant city. Even though the contrast in wealth in its population is very evident, it doesn’t feel oppressive or depressing. Kuangsi waterfall and Vang Vieng where we went for an unscheduled walk escorted by our guide were wonderful.

The temples in Cambodia and in particular Angkor Wat just have to be seen to be believed. It’s astonishing that they were built so long ago.
