Classic South America – 2nd November – 17th November
This trip is an absolute fantastic taster for South America, everything from the stunning scenery in Rio and all the way to Buenos Aires. Rio is a fantastic city and the trips were special, taking in the Christ the Redeemer statue and Sugarloaf.
Our group was perfect, everyone got on very well and were very friendly. There was no need to worry about being on my own as several of the group were also on their own.
The time spent on Ilha Grande was magic, it really is the iconic tropical island that dreams are made of-pure magic and chill out time here.
Then, on to the rainforest and Yacutinga lodge.
Excellent guides, very interested in keeping us all up to date with the creatures in the forest and bringing us very good guided walks. The food in the jungle was particularly good, and service was excellent. Iquazi Falls was a particular highlight, and enough time to view the falls from both the Brazilian and Argentine sides. The guides here again, were excellent.
Buenos Aires was a great way to end the trip, time for a bit of shopping and again a wonderful city to see.
I seem to be really praising the trip, with no down points…But there were no down points!
The trip to the falls on the Argentine side was very wet – tropical rainfall all day and even that didn’t dampen our spirits or the viewing (a tip for future ramblers, bring a lightweight cape to shield you from the spray at the falls).
All in all a wonderful trip, and well worth the flying hours.
