As you walk through green, flowery meadows all you can hear is the melodic tinkling of cow bells. You can just imagine Julie Andrews emerging over a hilltop and breaking into song. As we walked through the woods on our very first walk in Austria, we met an extremely friendly cow on our mountain path. And it seemed to find one rambler’s arm particularly tasty.
After nibbling away the cow decided to pose perfectly for us to take a picture, all the while jingling its bell to add to the atmosphere.
On our 2nd day we met an entire herd of cows, which we could hear tinkling in the distance long before we actually saw them. And as we turned a corner, we found ourselves in the middle of an entire field of beautiful Austrian cows, chewing and tinkling in the meadow. But these cows were on the move, and decided they would share our extremely narrow mountain path, since we were obviously such good walking company!
After a short way of sharing our path, the herd of cows decided they didn’t really feel like walking much further, so they decided to stand around instead, and watched in amusement as we tried to fight our way through the cows which stood steadfastly across our path. But with a little pushing and shoving we were free to continue along our way.
